Drainlayer (Experienced or Apprentice)
Full-Time | Great Team | Big Projects | Variety Every Day
Looking for a crew where you can get stuck into the big stuff? We’re looking for a Drainlayer to join our expanding team!
We’ve got a strong pipeline of civil and large-scale drainage projects, from new subdivisions and deep drainage through to commercial sites and infrastructure installs.
If you’re an experienced drainlayer wanting to take on more responsibility, or an apprentice keen to learn from the best, we’ve got room in our team for you. We’re after the right person and with the right attitude - more than just the qualification.
About the Role
You’ll be part of our drainage crew working across the Bay of Plenty, tackling everything from major civil drainage installations to residential sewer and stormwater systems. You’ll be working alongside diggers and trucks, using lasers and trench shoring, and be part of a team that takes pride in getting the job done right - safely and efficiently.
Your day-to-day will include…
Installing large-scale stormwater and wastewater systems for subdivisions and commercial projects
Setting out grades, levels, and trenching for deep drainage
Operating and working around machinery (excavators, compactors, lasers, etc.)
Installing residential sewer and stormwater connections
Reading and following drainage plans and site drawings
Working as part of a tight-knit crew with great communication and problem-solving skills
Keeping paperwork and job notes up to date (we make this easy with tech tools)
What We’re Looking For?
We’re looking for team players with the right attitude - whether you’re trade-qualified, registered, or working your way there. Ideally, you’ll have:
Experience or a strong interest in civil or residential drainlaying
Solid understanding of drainage layouts, fall, and site levels
A practical, safety-first mindset and a willingness to learn
Great communication and teamwork skills
Reliability, attention to detail, and pride in your work
A full NZ driver’s licence (WTR or Class 2 a bonus)
NZ drainlaying qualification or apprenticeship pathway (preferred but not essential)
